TEHRAN (AFP)--- A selection of Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad’s controversial outbursts on Israel and the Jews:

"As the imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map."

From a speech given on October 26 last year at a conference in Tehran on the theme of "The World without Zionism". Ahmadinejad was echoing comments by Iran’s revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

"You believe the Jews were oppressed, why should the Palestinian Muslims have to pay the price?

"Germany and Austria, come and give one, two or any number of your
provinces to the Zionist regime so they can create a country there... and the problem will be solved at its root."

From a December 8 interview with Iranian state television.

"They have invented a myth that Jews were massacred and place this above God, religions and the prophets.

"If somebody in their country questions God, nobody says anything, but if somebody denies the myth of the massacre of Jews, the Zionist loudspeakers and the governments in the pay of Zionism will start to scream."

From a December 14 speech, in which Ahmadinejad again suggested that Israel be relocated to Europe or north America.

"Logically, this fake regime cannot survive."

From an April 24 press conference in Tehran.

"Every German-born is indebted to the arrogant and greedy Zionists.
"Sixty years after the war, why do the Palestinian people have to burn in the crimes of Zionists under the pretext of the Second World War?"

From an April 27 speech in the western Iranian town of Zanjan.

"This regime will one day vanish."

A reference to Israel in a speech to students in Jakarta on May 11.

"I advise them to pack up and move out of the region before being caught in the fire they have started in Lebanon."

From a July 29 speech reacting to Israel’s offensive against Iran’s
Lebanese ally Hezbollah.

"The real cure for the (Lebanon) conflict is elimination of the Zionist
regime, but there should be first an immediate ceasefire."

From an August 3 speech at an Islamic summit in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

"The Zionist regime is fraudulent and illegitimate and cannot survive."
From an October 19 speech in Islamshahr, southwest of the capital.

"This regime (Israel) will be gone, definitely. You (the Western powers) should know that any government that stands by the Zionist regime from now on will not see any result but the hatred of the people."

From an October 20 speech in Tehran marking the Islamic republic’s annual Jerusalem Day protest against Israel.
