JERUSALEM (AFP)---Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman will meet US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Washington next week, the daily Haaretz reported late on Thursday.

The reported meeting would be the first since September 2010, when Lieberman made his first visit to the United States in his capacity as Foreign Minister.

According to the report, the State Department initially told Israel Clinton was set to be out of Washington during Lieberman's visit, but following a recent change in her scheduling, time was set for a meeting between the two.

Lieberman's spokesman Tzahi Moshe would not confirm a Clinton meeting or give details on the trip, beyond the fact that Lieberman "will be holding meetings with senior officials in the Senate, Congress and Jewish organisations."

He told AFP Lieberman would leave for Washington on Monday and return on Friday, and said details of the visit would be announced before his departure.
