BRUSSELS (EJP)---Israeli president Shimon Peres has canceled his visit to Brussels where he was due to address the European Parliament and meet the Belgian Jewish community in April.

"The visit has been canceled for agenda reasons," one informed source told EJP.

Peres had been invited to speak on April 10 at a session of the EU parliament in the framework of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue.

Other personalities scheduled to address the EU parliament later this year include Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Pope Benedict XVI, the Dalai Lama and United Nations Secretary General Ban-Ki Mooon.

No new date has been set yet for Peres's visit.
